Generating (and then copying, pasting and submitting) all or a large part of your personal statement from an AI tool such as ChatGPT, and presenting it as your own words, could be considered cheating by universities and colleges and could affect your chances of an offer.

出处:UCAS:A guide to using AI and ChatGPT with your personal statement

When you complete your application, you now have to declare that your personal statement hasn't been copied or provided from another source, including artificial intelligence software.

Anything not in your words could get flagged as fraud by UCAS, and could in turn mean you don't receive any offers or have offers withdrawn.

there are ways you could use AI to help you make a start, structure, and then check your final work.

You may want to ask ChatGPT to suggest ways of structuring your personal statement answers, ensuring that you're evidencing your skills in a clear way.”
ChatGPT can be used to check your personal statement draft for readability.”

Check everything that AI tools suggest, particularly facts.”
Copy and paste from AI tools and use as final text.”

We'd advise researching what individual universities and colleges recommend you include in your personal statement, and whether they have specific guidance around using AI tools like ChatGPT.

Each personal statement is compared against a library of personal statements previously submitted to UCAS, and a library of sample statements collected from websites and other sources.

Any statements showing a level of similarity of greater than 30% are reviewed by members of the UCAS Verification Team.

Also, if they gave you a template to use, or you used any sentences from the internet, this may be why your statement has been reported.

  1. Why do you want to study this course or subject?
  2. How have your qualifications and studies helped you to prepare for this course or subject?
  3. What else have you done to prepare outside of education, and why are these experiences useful?

If you provide true, complete and accurate information and if your personal statement is all your own work, then you have nothing to worry about.
